Peter Gilsvik, leader of
The International HouseFoundation

The International House Foundation is a leading centre of expertise in the field of Intercultural understanding and dialogue. Our work involves making use of the cultural diversity around us every day.
Norway has become a multicultural society. We take this fact seriously and work to combine Norwgian expertise with skills and talents of minority cultures that exist in Norway and also in our international network. We have developed experience in complementing, integrating and coordination this know how.
The International House has three departments:
- InterPreto Language Services
- Culture
- Integration

InterPreto Language Services provides telephone, face-to-face, and video interpreting services together with translations, language tuition and intercultural consultancy services.

The "Culture" department.
Art and culture are powerful instruments for promoting good communication and awareness. In "The Room of the World" we promote culture and develop new modes of expression and intercultural relationship. At this venue we present international, national and local artists offering a broad spectrum of productions from cross-cultural events.

Integration
Our integration department has experience in linking expertise from beyond Norway's cultural boundaries to our international network. Using this network, we can offer an organisation or individuals expertise in different fields of integration, such as Child Welfare, Refugee Work, Research, Conflict Resolution, Cultural Issues Political Activity etc.

The Foundation also lets permanent office space to several internationally oriented organisations. Our premises may also be hired for courses, conferences receptions or other functions.

We are independent of any religious or political affiliation.
