The title of the book: Cefurji so bilii rojeni tu: zivljenje maldih priseljencev druge generacije (Born in Ljubljana. Lives of young second generation immigrants in Ljubljana),
271 pp.
Short summary: The research projects analyses the situation of the second generation immigrants in Ljubljana, with a special focus on deviance and
violence. Many different research approaches have been used: analysis of official police data, representative survey of 1.934 15-years old
Ljubljana's students (this is a part of an international comparative research led by the Criminological institute of Hanover), qualitative
analysis of interviews with 32 school pupils, qualitative analysis of interviews with 30 professionals from schools and local social welfare centres, case studies, analysis of youngster's drawings and analysis of conclusions of three workshops with professionals. The project estimates the level of young second generation immigrants inclusion/exclusion, analyses their participation in officially known and unknown deviance and crime, and tries to find relations between violence and personality and
family characteristics of its perpetrators. The ending conclusion of the research project is that the topic of the second generation immigrants
seemd to be (in 2002) one of the "silent" topics, which has not yet been discovered by different professions in Slovenia. |
