The Joint Master of Arts in Migration and Intercultural Relations is a two year full-time programme with a blended learning approach, i.e. ICT-supported distance learning elements combined with on-site teaching and student and teacher mobility.
The next course will start October 2009.
Key objectives:
To deal with issues related to migration and to base the analyses of migration processes on a trans-cultural perspective.
To gain insight into practical work with migrants and within intercultural contexts.
To acquire skills for conceptual work in the field as well as the ability to coordinate and evaluate such work.
To enable students to conduct independent research.
To constructively use e-learning elements in order to encourage collaborative study and learning processes.
To provide, through an intensive programme in the first semester and later mobility, a “migration experience” that will allow for students to integrate a self-reflective dimension into scholarly work.
Course Structure and Content
The Joint Master’s in Migration and Intercultural Relations consists of modules that follow a blended learning approach and includes distance learning. The course spans two years and includes an internship module and a dissertation module (incl. a colloquium). The programme starts with an intensive course. Subsequent teaching will be based to a great extent on e-learning material, so that a high degree of self reliance is required from students. Results will be presented and discussed in video-conferences.

The programme has been developed with support from the European Commission's Curriculum Development Programme, part of the Erasmus programme of the Department of Education and Culture.
Upon successful completion of the masters programme, students will be awarded a joint degree, issued by all partner institutions. The study programme will be taught in English.
